This all started when Byron had to do some repairs to his ST1300 after getting sideswiped by a Toyota Tundra. I was giving him a hard about not fixing his bike due to the cold. Then I said something about not having the time to fix my stuck thermostat and before I knew it, Byron was offering to come down and help me. Then Fred and Dana chimed in about coming and watching and drinking my beer. When I told them, the only beer they would be drinking here would be Rootbeer, and they said, no problem, we'll be there just pick the date.

Well, after confering with Chris, I picked March 3rd and they were all for it!    

They all showed up not too long after 10am and Dana had talked to Byron about changing out some tires. Dana had put some Dunlops on his ST1300 and just didn't like them. Byron brought his truck down with a really cool tire changing jig. So he and Dana worked on Dana's tires while Fred supervised and I was in my Motorcycle (3rd car) garage changing out my thermostat.

Because Byron wanted to do the tire change correctly, he really spent a bunch of time on the tire changes. He even spun the rims to find the heavy part of the rims and then matched that up with the light part of the tire. A true professional!

So while these guys were busy with Dana's tires, I started pulling the tupperware off my bike so I could replace my thermostat. I wasn't in any great hurry, so I got thermostat changed out, put the radiator back on along with a TurboCity radiator screen and then I started on installing my Stebel Airhorn, which also required a Blue Sea Fuse block. And I figured since I was going to that much trouble, I might as well rewire my driving lights too! 

I wanted to do this right, so I fed the wire through the wire loom I bought and then used heat shrink to seal off both ends. I then fed the newly made wire harness through my frame and even went under my gas tank to make it look like a professional installation.  It is really looking good. I'm going to take the driving lights wiring harness apart and use the wire loom to make it look nicer. Currently I have this ugly white harness and it just doesn't look that good, so this will clean it up real nice.

I still have a number of things to do on my bike, but at least I have the thermostat changed out and started on my wiring project.

It was a real hoot to meet Fred and Byron and a delight to see Dana again. Now maybe, after I get my bike back together, we'll all take off for a ride sometime!
