1971 Suzuki TS-50R Gaucho
In June of 1971 I decided I couldn't afford my car any longer, (I had a'63 Chevy Impala 4 door that needed major engine work) so I decided to start riding motorcycles. After seeing the little Suzuki at a RV show the previous month, I went down to a local Suzuki shop and found out how much it was. I sold the Impala to a junk yard for $150 and started saving my money to purchase one. It was around $400, so it took me about a month and in mid July, My motorcycle riding career started.
Although I only rode this bike (if I can call it a bike, more like an over sized mini-bike..;-) for two months, I put on over 3,000 miles on it, including a trip to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles (I lived a mile south of LAX). Because I needed more power, which the little 50 just didn't have, I sold it and purchased my first 1972 Yamaha 250 Twin in November.
